Musicians on Film: Ned Sedlak

I have a few shots taken from this one session with the Thunderbird Family, the greatest indie folk band no one’s ever known.  I’ll continue release more photos from the session as time goes on because I love the way the film came out on my old Nikon camera (which has since broken thanks to my naive trust of American Airlines).  This felt like the right one to start with.

This is my old college roommate Ned Sedlak!  Ned’s the man!  He’s kept himself in the business since graduation working at Sony BMG and Warner/Chapel out in LA until moving on over to NYC to be a Production/Marketing Coordinator at tinyOGRE Entertainment.  Ned’s a bad ass.

In this picture, Ned’s jammin’ out on the flute during an awesome session that took place in my old apartment at 1111 Boylston St right across from Berklee.  That place was so filthy it was beautiful.  He was the ‘utility’ guy of The Thunderbird Family, playing guitar, flute, and saxophone.

Photoblog: Matt Piet

Matt Piet is out of his god-damned mind and I love him for it.  I think he’s in Mexico right now. Matt Piet, are you in Mexico?

Back at Berklee, he asked me to take some performance photos of him and I was more than happy to oblige.  The photo here is from one of those shoots.

He’s also famous for being the co-host of the infamous Big Mike and Skinny Matt Show, being a Hoosier, his stoic interlude in the worldwide hit ‘Tater Tot’, and of course his extremely pretentious love of lobster bisque.

I would be REMISS if I didn’t include any of his music to support this post, so here you have Matt Piet himself making “Take the ‘A’ Train” his bitch with the Kate Thiroux Trio.  Enjoy!

Photoblog: Job Hunter

I took this picture when I was unemployed after college and working pretty damn hard every day to find a job.  I was not having much success at all.

If I had staged this photo, I would hate it but that is not the case.

After an interview at a marketing company that would have made me miserable, I found myself sitting on my bed taking off my hard leather shoes with a knot in my stomach and weight in eyes once again.  When I shook off my suit and wiggled my toes free of my business socks, I looked to my left and saw this.  Sometimes reality shows us how we really feel.  I’m so glad to be away from that feeling now.
